Ave Verum – Peter-Anthony Togni and Jeff Reilly
Written in 2014 in Halifax, NS Canada

Inspired by Guillaume de Machaut’s 14th century masterpiece, the Messe de Nostre Dame. Ave Verum is a contemplative improvisation on the Ave Verum Corpus – one the original plainchants that inspired Machaut. This composition was originally recorded as a movement from Responsio – a contemporary response to Machaut’s mass by Peter-Anthony Togni, scored for bass clarinet and vocal quartet.
